Akureyri is a mountainous region that extends along most of the western shoreline of the Irenic Ocean. While it is sparsely populated, the region is a member of the Scarabian Confederation and there are many civil and friendly establishments in the area, making it generally safe for travelers. Akureyians are very fond of infrastructure projects, the most striking of which is the electric train network.
