Dostovei Time Travel Incident

The Dostovei Time Travel Incident was a man-made disaster caused by MadCorp CEO Mikhail Alexeyev Dostovei that occurred in 2011... and 2026. Yes, it confuses us, too.

The Incident

In 2011, MadCorp CEO and Governor Mikhail Alexeyev Dostovei of SW City launched an ICBM loaded with exotic matter and detonated it in orbit around Alphaworld in an attempt to open a wormhole to another part of the galaxy and establish trade with the inhabitants on the other side. He ended up causing a major diplomatic incident instead.

Due to a misunderstanding with the trader he purchased the exotic matter from, a cousin of Dr. Chris who spoke an odd dialect of Lingarian, Dostovei ended up purchasing the wrong kind of exotic matter and the ICBM ended up boring a tunnel through time instead of space. The entire Alphaworld system was accidentally swallowed up and shot forward to the year 2026.

Dostovei was last seen fleeing toward Horizon City with an angry mob of Circle of Fire employees after him, for they had missed out on 15 years' worth of stock options. SW City ended up paying reparations to those affected and officially apologized for the incident.

Effects

Residents of SW City who were not well off and could not afford a vacation to Server or Flangton Island often took a cheap vacation to Unused Sand Texture Island, which was a small sand deposit at a widening in the Besburn River, located east of the Irenic Ocean. The island was sunk in the tidal forces unleashed during the incident.

Fortunately, a new island appeared in the northeastern portion of the Irenic near Zelena at the same time and has since been named the new Unused Sand Texture Island. It strangely looks exactly like its predecessor and is now a vacation destination for low-income residents of the city.
